This return visit was to attend A Christmas Carol and see the new theater’s new venue. I recently revisited a live performance theater venue in historic Lawrenceville GA. And it really felt like there wasn't enough to see for the price of admission. I have now seen an elephant in person," and move on to the next animal? That's the zoo. But really, how long do you need before you say, "Yup. "Oh look, the elephant." It doesn't take long to look at an elephant. Not even sure what that would look like and no suggestions for what those things to do would be, but it just felt like a nice walk. For the price, and how big the place is I feel that there should be more to do. I had a good time, but that's because I was with my wife and daughter, and we always have a good time together, but the zoo itself was blah. If you want to go to a zoo, because you've never been, or because you really like zoos, or like in my case your daughter has never been to a zoo and wants to go, I guess this zoo is as good as any other. This was the first time I'd been to one since I was a wee lad. I can't rate for how this zoo ranks compared to other zoos. An unexpected bonus was that the pandas were still out so we got to see a sneak peek at them at night too! Overall, it is definitely worth the time and money to stop here and see the animal - you won't regret it. The zoo is transformed and instead of live animal exhibits you got to see the park lit up with the animal light displays around the zoo. I was also here for illuminights and had a great time there either. Also, there's a petting zoo here which is something many zoos don't have so that's fun for all ages to stop by and pet some goats/sheep. When we went for whatever reason there were barely any people so it was like a private tour of the zoo all by myself! That was definitely a once in a life time experience. The bathrooms and other facilities are clean as well which is definitely a bonus. This zoo is also very clean and well kept which is always good. Though some animals were away due to the cold weather I still feel like I had a great time. There are so many animals here other zoos simply don't have and it was very fun to see them up close and personal. The project involved more than 300 cubic yards of themed concrete and 82,500 square feet of shotcrete. This is one of the best zoos I've ever been to! The animals have so much room to roam around and explore and though zoos usually make me sad this one made me very excited. Another spectacular feature is a 17’-tall rockwork replica of a tiger sculpture in a ruin that serves as the entry portal. In addition, Nassal carved shotcrete facades on the animal holding facilities and visitor viewing structures, and replicated ancient Asian architecture including a Cambodian temple and a Russian highland viewing shelter to resemble stacked stone and hand-carved brick. A variety of design elements were incorporated into the fabricated rockwork to encourage animal interaction. Using photographs of Asia’s various regions as a reference, Nassal’s rockwork craftsmen sculpted intricately detailed trees, boulders, rock formations, habitat elements, retaining walls, termite mounds, ponds, rock outcroppings, mud banks, cliffs, a moat system, and a 19’ tall waterfall. The end result was a realistic-looking exhibit that provided both a comfortable living environment for the animals, and a satisfying authentic experience for the zoo’s visitors. Nassal completed shop fabrication drawings, as well as the rockwork fabrication.
